The basis of my sermon tonight is out of Psalms 115:
Psalms 115:16, “The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth He has given to the sons of men.”
The earth is ours, and everything in it. We were given dominion of it.
The Lord has been speaking to me about this word “Dominion”. He has been speaking to me about 2018, that He is moving His church, His people, His Sons and Daughters, to take dominion. Now dominion is a strong word. It is a forceful word with weight, but in these days, God is saying “take dominion.” He is putting the weight of His Word on us to take dominion. It has always been there, but the church has not been active in it because it takes work. The church tends to move to the easy clean things to deal with.
When we look at the word Dominion,
Merriam Webster defines Dominion as:
Domain – which means having complete and absolute ownership of the land.
Having Supreme Authority – Sovereignty – which is supreme power, being a controlling influence.
Its having “Absolute Ownership”
In the Greek, Dominion is the word “radah”, Raw Daw, and it means to tread down, subjugate, prevail against, reign, rule and take.
Genesis 1:26, “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Yes, God wants us to have dominion over the land, but also have dominion within the church, have dominion over our bodies, and dominion over our thoughts. God our Father wants everything to be subject to Him as it should be. As all things were created to be.
Man, Adam in effect in his rejection of God, lost dominion, he handed over to satan. Jesus the second Adam, took it back and gave it to His own.
Today, Jesus is gathering in His Bride, and preparing them to not only reclaim that which was lost, but also for us to shed the things of this world, to not only walk spotless, and blameless before Him, but to walk in total healing, having our minds totally connected into the things of heaven. Our thoughts being His thoughts. Our hearts being His heart. Because as it states in Colossians 2:3, that all of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ Jesus, and it is for us who believe.
Concerning Dominion of the Land:
Here within the Furnace, and in other groups, we have been praying the last year over Kenosha and the southeastern region of Wisconsin. Praying that the stronghold over this city and area will be broken; that the demonic ancestral links, and roots, will be unearthed and destroyed.
And we know that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
It seems like weekly we hear in Kenosha, that through the City Government, or from within business, and even in the connections with the land, evil spiritual forces have influenced individuals who control the city to use their authority in him, to do unrighteous acts against others and the community for their own personal gain, but also to fight against us Holy People.
These evil spirit directed individuals hate the church, and they are against anything good that would cause prosperity for the people in general.
There is a lust for power, and a lust for control, and it is all connected to the land. Those of us in the prophetic circles have seen this. It is like a huge tree with deep roots that needs to be destroyed.
God is calling us the church, to take the land, and take dominion over it in His name.
Concerning Dominion over the Church:
There is a religious spirit in this city. John the Baptist as well as Jesus fought against that during their days of ministry. A religious spirit is usually about the law, works, and rules, many that man made up. It does not like grace, nor does it like relationship. It may preach grace and relationship, but none is fostered. What shines from this spirit is pride, legalism, criticism, division, false holiness, and intolerance. All of it due to people who call themselves followers of Christ who don’t know Him. If they did know Him and His heart, and humbled themselves before Him, there would not be anything religious about them. They would be like Jesus.
In John 15:5, Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
A religious spirit will talk about Jesus, but not abide in Jesus. To abide means to dwell, and endure with Jesus. Also the word tarry can be used. To stay and remain in Him, and that takes a Spiritual connection to do that. There is no fleshly nature involved. Our flesh is brought low to endure with Jesus.
What the religious church does is all about the flesh, and not by the Spirit. Today we are not seeing much fruit out of the church, and it is because Jesus is not the center of activity, and because the Holy Spirit is not active.
Program cannot activate the Spirit. Abiding in Christ in prayer and supplication activates the Spirit, so a Spirit led church is not a religious church, it’s a Jesus led church. Jesus then has dominion over His church because those who abide in Him have given the church to Him for it to operate in Holy Spirit. They in turn by the direction of the Holy Spirit, bear fruit for Jesus because He has in turn, given dominion to them to take what was already given to them in the beginning.
Dominion over our Physical Bodies:
Our Father in heaven wants us to be whole, and I am not just talking about the absence of sickness. Yes, the Lord wants us to be healed of all of our infirmities, but He wants us to give our bodies over to Him. To do that, we must give our bodies over to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9 says “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
That is our first act of the giving ourselves over to Jesus. It is putting our trust in Him alone.
Jesus said in John 14:15, “if you love me, you’ll keep my commandments.”
We must exist through Jesus. Our will must be His will.
1 Corinthians 8:6, “yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.”
We must set ourselves apart to exist through Jesus to exist for God. We must through our authority in Christ, break the world’s stronghold off of us.
Romans 12:1-2, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
I know that holiness and being set apart, gets in the way of grace for some people and some preachers, as they think anything is acceptable in moderation. But Jesus is calling on a remnant, to step up their game.
He is calling them to drop the junk, and we know what the junk is. He is saying step away. Now our friends and others may look at us like we are zealots, but today Jesus is looking for zealots. He is looking for crazy Nazirite like thinking followers who will say no to the things of this world whom He can pour out His Spirit. He wants to do what people may think is crazy stuff to set people free, all the while setting us free.
Did the first followers of Jesus care what people thought? Nope! They did what the Spirit led them to do, and the naysayers, and the scoffers, and anyone who thought they we weird, strange or even scary, when they saw the truth, many believed, and they became just like those they thought were weirdos. You know what I am talking about.
It’s time to shake off the things of this earth, and love not the things of this world or anything in it, to set ourselves apart so Jesus can move in us with such power, that we can cause even a revolution in the church for Jesus. We can cause an awakening. We just need to hand ourselves over to the Lord.
Dominion over our Minds:
Here is the main battleground. Who controls it? We can say we do, but again, what is going through it? When we are not working, or schooling, or have our minds on constructive things, what is it consumed with?
The mind is the key to have dominion over everything else I have spoken of tonight. Again you can throw Lordship of Jesus in the mix again, but it is dependent on us, as to where our minds are in those quieter moments. It can be a war. It takes persistence on our part to keep our minds on the holy. Do we believe that our minds can be totally captured by the Lord?
Philippians 4:4-9, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
The Apostle Paul is giving us help here where to place our thoughts.
Isaiah 26:3, “ You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
We are in a fight, so we must train our minds through prayer and being in the Word of Truth to keep our eyes, our ears, and our minds on the righteous holy things. When our minds are conformed to the ideas and the purposes of the Holy Spirit, our minds come into the dominion of Jesus Christ.
The expression that comes from that, is peace, wisdom, and understanding of our role to bring the Kingdom of Heaven into play in our lives and the lives of others.
We can then say, “we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16.
Having our minds and our bodies under the dominion of the Lordship of Jesus Christ causes us to be a real pain to the kingdom of darkness. When we have the mind of Christ, and live in the power of the Holy Spirit, declaring and decreeing the Kingdom of God over people and cities, God through our intercession, because we speak dominion, and speak forth the breaking of strongholds, injects Himself into our prayers and petitions and causes breakthrough. Those breakthroughs are healings, the casting out of evil spirits, setting people free of all the bondages of this world, and the reclamation of cities and regions for Jesus Christ.
Also when a group of believers live the Kingdom life, they are examples to the religious church to have a true relationship with Jesus Christ and throw out the teachings and direction of man that will cause destruction to the religious spirit.
The earth is ours, and everything in it, and in this day, we need to come close to the Lord. We need to truly get in His face and know His heart for us, for His people, for the City.
He has called us to this city and its people. He has called even this little church to rise up. He called us to not only be the Watchmen for Kenosha, but to lead intercession for the city and its people.
But we as the Holy People, need to shake off the things that blur our focus, cut off the noise that we hear that clouds our conscience, and hone in like turning a radio dial to the right frequency to the mind of Christ to hear Him with a supernatural connection through the Holy Spirit.
Are we ready for what is ahead? Will we be ready when what has been prophesied in the past that 2018 is going to be the year of renewal, but a year where God is going to pour out His Spirit on the remnant who seek His face? That He is going to open the door for signs wonders and miracles that He has withheld in the past.
God wants to pour Himself out on us, and He wants us to walk in the fullness of His love and grace and His power to take what was stolen. Take dominion of the land, and restore His creation. Are we up to it?
